We’d been rehearsing regularly at James’ parents house for a couple of months. I know we had several songs down. These were probably Song 2, Are You Going To Be My Girl, Sit Down, Mr Brightside, Don’t Look Back Into The Sun and a handful of others. I’m not sure who managed to snag this gig, I suspect it was probably Andy.
I can’t remember what was on the set list but I think it was was probably only half a dozen songs. I do remember the stage was a postage stamp in a dark corner. It did have a small shelf in an alcove for my pint, which was nice.
I also remember James’ girlfriend was wearing a Doors t-shirt and when I asked her what her favourite Doors album was she said…
“Who are the Doors?”
We didn’t have a logo, we’d barely decided upon a name. It could well have been the deadline for printing this poster that forced us to make a decision on what we were going to call ourselves.
I wonder what ever happened to “You Killed My Wizard”?
