A 10th Anniversary Party

There’s something special about live music in a local pub. The crowd, the energy, the chorus of voices belting out anthems we all grew up with—it’s pure magic. On Saturday night, that magic filled The Station Pub in Kiveton as we helped celebrate a very special occasion: a 10th wedding anniversary. And what better way to mark a decade of love than with a night of 90s and 00s bangers played loud and proud?

The night had an extra edge of excitement as Deacan joined us on guitar, adding his own flair and driving energy to every track. From the first chord to the final singalong, the atmosphere never dipped.

We kicked things off with a bang—Song 2 by Blur—nothing like a “woo-hoo!” to get the whole pub on its feet. That energy rolled straight into Teenage Dirtbag, with the crowd screaming every word like it was 2001 all over again. Oasis fans were well and truly spoiled too, with She’s Electric and Roll With It in the first set, and of course the emotional closer, Don’t Look Back in Anger, uniting the room in full voice later on.

The first set was packed with indie favourites: Alright by Supergrass had everyone bouncing, Dreaming of You by The Coral turned the room into a singalong choir, and Parklife brought pure Britpop swagger (complete with the audience shouting the spoken bits at top volume). Highlights also included Mardy Bum for the Arctic Monkeys lovers and Dakota—a track that always gets couples swaying and mates throwing arms around each other.

After a short break to recharge glasses, we came back swinging with Franz Ferdinand’s Take Me Out—a riff made to ignite a second set. From there it was wall-to-wall crowd-pleasers: Valerie for the soulful singalong, Proud Mary for some unstoppable dancing, and I Believe in a Thing Called Love for the big voices (and high notes) in the room.

Of course, no 00s party would be complete without Mr Brightside. The opening riff hit, and suddenly the pub was transformed into a festival tent—everyone shouting every word, pint glasses raised high. The energy only climbed higher through All the Small Things, I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, and Chelsea Dagger. By the time we tore into Sex on Fire, the place was electric.

The encore sealed the night perfectly. Our take on Can’t Take My Eyes Off You had couples swaying and singing together—especially fitting for the anniversary celebration—before Seven Nation Army brought the roof down, the bassline thundering as the crowd chanted along.

It was one of those nights where the music, the people, and the occasion all came together just right. The Station Pub was alive with nostalgia, joy, and love—not just for the happy couple, but for the soundtrack of a generation.

Here’s to ten years of marriage, unforgettable nights, and the power of 90s and 00s anthems to keep us singing forever.
