A Christmas Party at Zephyr Bar

On Saturday 28th December, just as the Christmas week celebrations were still in full swing, we had the pleasure of playing another festive party—this time at Zephyr Bar in Stag Works, Sheffield. Tucked away in one of the city’s most creative spaces, the venue had a brilliant underground feel, the perfect spot to close out an incredible year of gigs.

Adam was back on lead guitar for this one, and as always, he brought the fire. From the very first riff, the sound filled the room and had the crowd ready to see out the year in style.

We opened with Blur’s Song 2, which got an instant roar from the crowd—nothing like a big “woo-hoo!” to set the tone. The first set rolled through all the classics: Teenage Dirtbag and She’s Electric brought out the big singalongs, Alright had the dancefloor bouncing, and Dreaming of You was a perfect swayer for couples and mates alike. Parklife gave the room some cheeky Britpop fun, while Mardy Bum and Dakota closed the set with proper Sheffield flair.

After a short break to recharge, we came back swinging with Franz Ferdinand’s Take Me Out. From there it was anthem after anthem—Valerie, Proud Mary, and I Believe in a Thing Called Love had the party in full swing. With Christmas lights still hanging across the bar, we couldn’t resist keeping the festive spirit alive, so we broke out Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End) by The Darkness once again. It went down a storm, with the whole room screaming along to that glorious chorus.

Of course, one of the biggest moments of the night came with Mr Brightside. It’s a track that never fails, and this was no exception—the whole place erupted, arms in the air, every lyric sung back at us. The energy stayed sky-high with All the Small Things, I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, and Chelsea Dagger, before Sex on Fire kept the floor bouncing right to the end of the second set.

We closed the main set with Oasis’ Don’t Look Back in Anger, and it was pure magic—everyone in the room shoulder to shoulder, pints raised, singing at the top of their lungs. A perfect moment for the last big party of the year.

For the encore, we gave the crowd Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, which turned into a huge singalong, before bringing the night to a thunderous finish with Seven Nation Army. The chant carried on even as the lights came up—a sure sign of a crowd that wasn’t ready for the night to end.

What a way to wrap up 2024. A brilliant crowd, an amazing venue, and a setlist full of anthems that never fail to deliver. Thanks to everyone who came out and made the post-Christmas party one to remember. Here’s to 2025—we’ll see you in the new year!
