Party in the Car Park

Party in the Carpark

There’s something special about outdoor gigs – the fresh air, the space to dance, and the atmosphere that builds as the music carries into the evening. On Sunday 4th May 2025, TOAST had the pleasure of bringing live music to the Party in the Car Park event at Nethergreen Working Men’s Club, and it turned out to be one of those nights where everything just clicked.

From the very start, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be your average Sunday evening. Families, friends, and music lovers of all ages turned out, ready to sing, dance, and celebrate together. The weather held out, the drinks were flowing, and as soon as we hit the first chords of our set, the car park was buzzing with energy.

Set One – Warming Things Up

We kicked things off with “Song 2” – and nothing gets a crowd going quite like a chorus of “woo-hoo!” echoing through the air. The momentum rolled straight into “Teenage Dirtbag,” which had everyone singing along – from teenagers right through to parents who remembered it from the first time around.

Britpop anthems followed thick and fast: “She’s Electric” and “Alright” created a proper festival-like singalong, while “Dreaming of You” added a dreamy groove that had people swaying with pints in hand.

“Park Life” was a real highlight, with the storytelling verses shouted back at us by the crowd – and the Sheffield spirit shone through when we hit “Heavyweight Champion of t’World.” That song always feels extra special close to home.

We then surprised the crowd by dropping “Shut Up and Dance” earlier than usual in the set – and it did exactly what it says on the tin. The car park dance floor suddenly came alive with people of all ages throwing shapes.

The energy kept building with “Somebody Told Me” and “Roll With It,” before a heartfelt “Mardy Bum” gave the crowd a chance to join in on every word. We wrapped up the first set with the double hit of “Last Nite” and “Dakota” – two songs that had everyone bouncing and singing at the top of their voices.

Set Two – Full-On Party Mode

After a short break, we came back on to a crowd that was more than ready for round two. We launched straight into “Take Me Out” – and the reaction was electric. From there, the second set was a non-stop party.

“Valerie” got everyone swaying and singing, while “Proud Mary” saw the dance floor spinning and clapping along. The soaring vocals of “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” brought smiles all round, and then came the song that always brings the house down – “Mr Brightside.”

The party atmosphere never let up as we smashed through “All the Small Things” and “I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor.” By this point, it felt less like a working men’s club car park and more like a festival crowd.

Sheffield pride came roaring back with “Common People,” before we hit the terrace chant-inducing “Chelsea Dagger.” “Sex on Fire” kept the momentum sky-high, and we finished the main set with “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” That chorus echoed across Nethergreen as everyone linked arms and sang together – one of those moments that gives you goosebumps.

The Encore

Of course, the crowd weren’t ready for us to stop. For the encore, we slowed things down with a heartfelt version of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” – a chance for everyone to sing in unison one more time. And then, to close the night, we powered into “Seven Nation Army.” The iconic riff rang out into the night, with chants carrying long after we’d played the final note.

Final Thoughts

The Party in the Car Park at Nethergreen Working Men’s Club was a fantastic reminder of why we love doing what we do. The crowd was up for it from the first song to the last, the weather was kind, and the atmosphere was incredible.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made the night so special – and of course to Nethergreen WMC for hosting such a brilliant community event.

If you’re looking to turn your party, wedding, or event into something unforgettable, TOAST can bring the live soundtrack that gets everyone singing and dancing together. This was one for the books – and we can’t wait for the next one.
