We seem to have hit a seam of milestone birthday celebrations that require the services of a 90s cover band.
This event saw Toast pop up at Hallowes Golf Club in Dronfield. I arrived at 6pm to find Nathan setting up his kit on a bijou stage in a high ceilinged function room. A balloon festooned “50th Birthday” backdrop had been set up in the corner for photo opportunities. We busied ourselves with setting up and sound checking.
Catering for this event was being managed by The Greedy Greek takeaway van. Our client was kind enough to provide us with food and we were treated to a selection of Greek treats from the wagon. Guests had started arriving at 7:30 but people were still eating at 8:30 so we delayed the start of the first set to give everyone time to digest their meal. We kicked off at 9pm.
The first set saw plenty of side-line swaying and surreptitious toe tapping but little in the way of actual dancing. There was still plenty of time for that. The second set formula didn’t fail us and by the end we had a dance floor was full raucous party goers.
